DETAILS
For sale an extremely early example of the Austin Healey 100. 1624 DU is a 1953 BN1 model, built 3rdDecember 1953 and as such features the purest lines of all the Healeys with no door handles, no external fuel filler and single rear light (unique to the earlier cars with later cars spawning reflectors). Finished in Healey Blue metallic with Aluminium Silver wire wheels and a duo-tone Navy/ Light Blue interior with dark Navy carpet set. The car is fitted with the full 100M kit including louvred bonnet.
Restored in 1992-1994 this beautiful car has covered just 7,800 miles since and was previously property of a former garage operator who spent much time maintaining and improving the car where he could. This includes 100M carburettors, 100M cold air box and ram air pipe and a 100M louvred bonnet plus the addition of original twin Lucas spotlamps. In the last 5 years an aluminium head including uprated valves has been fitted to the engine giving improved performance to the already improved engine. The soft top is also understood to be new around this time and does not appear to have been used, the side screens are new and unused.
This is a very clean, driver quality car which can either be leisurely improved or enjoyed as is. The car does have a few scratches and paint imperfections from storage but there is no rust on the body. Mechanically the car is performing well as we have just carried out a full service and spanner check plus replacement of weak shock absorbers.
Sold serviced with British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, new MOT, full tonneau and wet weather gear, service history, hpi checked and clear.
