Now a highly upgraded road-rally car, the car was restored over 2 years at Rawles Motorsports facility.

Chassis

As a high performance build was desired from the beginning, a new stronger chassis was built to replace the particularly poor, old and weakened one.

The original bulkheads were rebuilt and fitted to this.

BODY PANELS

The original front and rear shrouds required major repair.

To reduce kerb weight new aluminium panels were reconstructed to a perfect fit.

Pre-Fit

As in all of our restorations, the engine, drivetrain and suspension are repeatedly installed and removed to ensure tight and consistent panel gaps when the car is on its own wheels and under finished load.

Due to the large amount of custom fabrication for the removable roll cage, rack and pinion steering and other upgrades this is vital.

PAINT

Paintwork is the central part of a premium restoration and as such deserves to be of an impeccable finish.

Around 300 hours were spent painting the car, ensuring a glass-like finish.

DRIVETRAIN

The original engine was stripped down, chemically cleaned, crack and pressure tested before being refurbished to our ‘Rawles Revival Fast Road’ specification. The engine was then set-up on our rolling road dyno to ensure safe break-in and maximised power across the complete rev range.

In addition to this, our unique 5-speed gearbox conversion, plus a limited-slip differential was installed. This allows for greater acceleration and much more comfortable cruising due to lower engine speed, plus vastly reduced cockpit heat.

UPHOLSTERY & HOOD

Our leather artisans hand-crafted a full leather interior over motorsport period bucket seats chosen with the client plus fitted a bespoke mohair roof for vastly increased weather proofing over the original Everflex hood.

After road and dynamometer testing, the car was unveiled to the public at the 2018 Goodwood Revival.
