1958 | Austin Healey 100/6 BN4

Prior to Restoration

As one of just 156 original RHD home market 100/6 cars built, TVB 600 represents a rarity worth saving – even more so when considering its high desirable factory colours of Healey Ice Blue Metallic with Ivory Duotone.

TVB 600 prior to restoration was a complete car but with very significant corrosion to the chassis and outer body panels with the exception of the aluminium shrouds.

Chassis & Tub

To ensure a flawless drive and the highest standards of body fit the owner opted for a new chassis with this and the tub fully jig built by us to ensure excellent longevity. Much of the original bulkheads were usable, were repaired and remain on the car today, strengthened to eradicate scuttle shake.

Body

We repaired the original shrouds and fitted new aluminium wings, a new boot lid whilst preserving the original bonnet. To protect the aluminium panels from stone chips and dents we fitted our hand made aluminium wheel arch liners.

During restoration all brightwork and trim including the full roof mechanism plus the full drivetrain was test fitted to ensure flawless gaps and fitment on the finished car.

Paint

The body of this Healey was blasted to bare metal with differing media tailored to each material or panel (based on composition and strength) before we applied multiple coats of primers, seam sealed all welds to prevent future corrosion before applying 4 coats of base coat and 4 coats of clear coat to achieve a deep, glass like finish.

Engine & Drivetrain

The original 2.6 litre engine of this 100/6 was rebuilt to a modernised and upgraded specification to boost performance and reliability. The car features many of our uniquely developed products to allow the engine to both breathe better and make more power.

Upholstery

We hand crafted leather seats to the original BN4 patterns (which differ from other Healeys) in the original colours. Additional heat insulation was added to the floors and gearbox tunnel to slash cockpit temperatures.

The roof and wet weather gear was all bespoke made to measure out of navy mohair, achieving both a much more luxuries aesthetic and greater water-tightness on these early design Healey roofs.
