1953 Austin Healey 100 | 28,000 Miles from new! 2022 Mille Miglia Entrant, UK RHD

DETAILS

Built on the 22nd October 1953 and first registered by Donald Healey’s own dealership and works department, the Donald Healey Motor Corporation as OAC 536 on the 5th November 1953, this very early Austin Healey 100 is finished in the extremely rare and beautiful early car only Ice Blue (non-metallic) paint. As a very early example (body 595) this Healey features the early two-piece dashboard, the lightweight 4-stud axle as used on the 100S, aluminium boot and bonnet (early car only) plus its original early car only bakelite ID tag in the interior (these usually perish). With just 28,000 miles from new this is an extremely original and special car which has been rewarded with Mille Miglia entry in 2022 and was invited back but did not participate in 2023. The car has FIVA papers until 2032. Over £25,500 was spent making the car presentable, safe and reliable for the Mille Miglia.

Externally this Healey presents very nicely with all original body panels which were recently repaired in 2022. All the brightwork is original and very good condition for its age, well preserved. The car has received some sympathetic paintwork over the years last in 2022 to both preserve its originality but to keep the car very presentable. Wheels are new and correct Aluminium Silver 48 spoke centre lock wires as per factory, now shod in Blockley tyres dated 2022.

Inside this is an extremely original time-warp car retaining its  original bakelight steering wheel, rare two-piece dashboard and  Smiths instrumentation but with some refreshment work to rest of the interior in the form of new carpets and refurbishment works to the seats.

Mechanically this is a very reliable car having both been prepared for the Mille Miglia and a further electrical service in 2024 by ourselves with all new ignition leads, plugs, coil and distributor service. In 2022 the car received all new bushes to the suspension and all new bearings, new brake cylinders, new shock absorbers, new core plugs and a major engine service, new belts and hoses. At the same time the car received some tidying underneath. Bills in 2022 amass over £25,500.

Documents include the original 1953 buff logbook from when the car was first registered, the original owners handbook dated September 1953, Mille Miglia badges and eligibility card, FIVA papers valid until 2032, British Motor Heritage certificate of authenticity as well as significant paperwork invoices.

If the new owner wishes we can remove the Mille Miglia roundels at no additional cost. Jersey registered but easily re-registered with UK V5c.
