Built on 3-5thMarch 1965 and delivered to Donald Healey’s own dealership (Donald Healey Motor Co, Warwickshire), this 3000 MkIII BJ8 is a desirable, UK RHD late Phase II car featuring all the final production refinements the Longbridge factory could provide.
This car has never been disassembled and remains today in that state. Highly original, the car features one of just 195 genuine and ultra-rare ‘Works’ MkIII hardtops with which it was originally supplied.
The car retains its original Warwickshire 1965 registration, all original factory stamped ID plates on the car, original log book, an original bill of sale, British Motor Heritage Certificate of authenticity plus other paperwork dating back to 1971.
As a BJ8 Phase Two model this represents the most desirable 3000, with a 3-litre straight six developing 150HP at 5,200rpm, a top speed of 125mph and achieving 0-60 in 9.8 seconds. These variants also gave great refinement over earlier cars with wind-up windows, easy-up ‘pram-style’ hood and superior ride and handling quality owing to revised spring and damping rates.
