Austin Healey 3000 MkII Tri-Carb 1 of 261 UK RHD, Rare Centre Change!

DETAILS

Built 10th-13th November 1961 as 1 of 261 original RHD MkII BT7 cars 126 DLM would have been one of the first RHD cars to be fitted with (rare still in MKII form) much coveted centre change gearbox. This centre change gearbox gave a much sportier short shift gear change as well as other internal improvements and is nicely paired with the very desirable triple carb engine – featured only on the MkII. Later despatched on the 12th December to Car Mart Limited of London and first registered as 126 DLM, finished in the same Primrose yellow with Black interior the car wears today.

This is a car with very good history having been in long term ownership by the previous two custodians. The current owner having owned the car since September 2007 with the owner prior having restored the car shortly before this. A CD and memory stick is provided of the restoration. The car has excellent paper history back into the late 70s. The engine was rebuilt by Austin Healey specialist John Chatham and rolling road tuned and has covered just 9,000 miles since. Performance remains exactly where it should be for a strong and torquey 3000 engine such as this and is delivered to the wheels through an overdrive gearbox.

At present day 126 DLM presents nicely with less than 6,000 miles since the restoration and generally minor age and usage related marks as can be expected over time. The interior is in part original with the seats carrying a nicely mellowed patina but with the carpet and some of the other trim panels having been replaced during restoration. The car has been routinely serviced and MOT’d by its present owner with careful and regular attention to the engines good running and performance. In 2023 carried out major service works and in 2024 we re-anodised the cockpit trims and some of the chrome.

Supplied serviced with MOT, spare keys, hood, tonneau, owners handbook, large paperwork history file, MOT history back to 1980, tax discs back to ‘88, original continuation book, British Motor Heritage Trust Certificate of Authenticity, CD documenting restoration, memory stick documenting restoration and more.
