Austin Healey 3000 MkIII Phase II

DETAILS

OBP 177E is a very late example of the very desirable, final production specification Austin Healey 3000 MkIII (Phase II) built on 10th January 1967 with production of the MkIII ending that year. The MkIII features a 150BHP six cylinder engine with 2” SU carburettors, a 4-speed overdrive gearbox (giving a total of 6 ratios) with a short throw centre change, a more refined wrap-around windscreen and pram style hood plus improved ground clearance and a more sophisticated rear axle design.

Finished in Healey Blue metallic with Ivory duotone, Chrome centre lock wire wheels, a Navy interior with Walnut dashboard this is a very nicely presented restored car known to us for approximately 20 years with the car first being introduced to us when we were commissioned to put the works style side vents in the car. Whilst there are aftermarket side vents these can be inaccurate so instead we fabricated these based upon original works cars we have seen. Other external upgrades include a mohair hood and hood bag which are of very good fit plus wider wheels shod in grippy Avon 185 section tyres.

This is a very nicely presented Healey which drives extremely well, with wear and tear minimal on the restoration undertaken approximately 25 years ago. We have seen the car periodically since 2006 completing minor and major services, replacing shock absorbers and the steering idler plus fitting a new stainless exhaust.

In 2026 we have carried out some minor servicing on the car to prepare the car, now ready for its new custodian.
