Austin Healey 3000 MkIII BJ8 | 1967 UK RHD, One owner from new until 2014

DETAILS

This very late build 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII has remarkable history from day one having been owned by the same fastidious London gentleman from new until 2014. Clearly cherished for the entirety of this period the car is supplied with extremely detailed maintenance records written into the original owner’s manual showing every single service item or replacement part, further supported with the supplementary BMC service book still being present with every coupon ripped out and stamped as would be.

This Healey originally registered PLC 833E was supplied to Kenning Car Mart Ltd of London in right hand drive configuration, very highly specified with optional hide leather interior, overdrive, wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, tonneau cover, a laminated windscreen and road speed tyres. PLC 833E remains in its original colours and specification of Colorado Red with Black interior.

The car has been restored twice, first in 1985 and again in 2014. The more recement work in 2014 included a full re-spray, a re-trim of the front seats and new carpet, re-chroming, a new exhaust, a newly rebuilt engine, new stainless-steel exhaust, the addition of an extra electric radiator fan plus a few more subtle modernisations. The engine was built to original specification and has covered just 5,000 miles since rebuild, makes excellent power and oil pressure.

In 2019 the car received a major service at a cost of £7,000 from a Healey specialist going through the carburettors and fuel system, ignition, brakes and suspension to ensure they are all in top condition. This further included a new radiator, new chrome wire wheels and sticky Avon ZZ tyres.

In general PLC 833E is a very smart, original and well-maintained Healey in good useable but not perfect condition. The body is very straight and smart as is the car underneath with only minor marks to the body and exterior preventing it from achieving an £80k price tag. As such it should be a fantastic car for the enthusiast who wants to use and drive their car and whom appreciates history and originality.

Sold with MOT, original drivers handbook, original BMC service book, maintenance history, MOT history, British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, hood bag and tonneau, spare, two sets of keys, jack and hammer, HPI clear.
