DETAILS

For sale one of the most original Healey’s we have ever seen, filled to the brim with lots of original features often lost. NMY 15 was purchased just a few months old in late 1964 by the current owner’s father who later gifted the car to him. Since then, the car has been in his care and has been garage from new covering a mere 47,000 miles since it was built in July 1964. This is a remarkably well persevered car throughout.

Externally NMY 15 has mostly original factory paint with just a few local paint repairs having been made and some minor stone chips as can be expected on any 47,000 mile car. Paint finish is pleasingly still extremely deep with regular garaging keeping the paint away from UV light which can fade paint over decades. The chrome is all original and still has good depth just with minor ‘love marks’ from polishing. The wheels are the original Aluminium Silver 60 spokes fitted with new Blockley 185 section tyres.

Inside – most incredibly – the interior is all original, even the carpets which are completely different in finish, cut and fit much better than any off the shelf reproduction. The seats are excellent with very little wear, the ‘Chrome’ piping also not available on new productions is unfaded – another item which is normally the victim of sun damage and wear. The hood and wet weather gear is also fully original, fits very nicely as to be expected and is in excellent condition again due to the cars lifetime of fair weather use. Additional dealer fit accessories such as a map light have been added by an Austin dealership in period.

Mechanically the car is in very good condition due its low mileage resulting in little wear. Crucially, the car has always been used and has not sat for decades like some of the other low mileage cars we have seen. This means it drives extremely well as the car has always been serviced and fluids kept high. In 2023 we have just carried out a major service plus replacement of the original clutch, fitment of a large core radiator and uprated fan (original remains with the car) and new radiator hoses. In 2020 another Healey specialist rebuilt the original cylinder head to unleaded specification, fitted the aforementioned tyres, fitted a new servo, replaced original brake hoses, fitted a new brake master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder, wheel cylinder and more.

Open the glovebox of this remarkably preserved Healey and you will find the original service and warranty book for this Healey (something we never see) with dealer inspections and car information dutifully filled in plus its original MkIII owners handbook. More incredibly the spare keys were taped to this as would have been provided new – this is the first time we have ever seen this present, original and correct.

Sold serviced with British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, original warranty/service booklet, original spare keys, original keys, original owners handbook, service history, hpi clear and with MOT.
