DETAILS

Here we have for sale what is to many the ultimate specification Austin Healey: a late December 1965 3000 MkIII Phase II, original right hand drive, original Healey Blue Metallic example with overdrive. First registered in January 1966 by A.C. Turner Limited of Plymouth as APO 182C, this Healey remains numbers matching on the engine and even has its original ignition key.

A very smart useable car today APO has benefitted from much restoration and improvements work over the last few decades. Most notably a major body restoration between 2011 and 2013 with just 1,000 miles since. This included new sills, floors, outriggers, with the boot, bonnet and wings all removed and painted nicely on the insides plus a full exterior respray.

Mechanically APO is in very fine fettle having had much specialist attention. Most recently in 2023 new shock absorbers, attention to the brakes, steering plus a major service. More significantly the engine was rebuilt to stage 2 fast road specification including unleaded conversion, port and polished cylinder head, high lift camshaft and fully balanced internals with 20,000 miles covered since. The gearbox including overdrive was rebuilt by Healey specialists end 2003 25,000 with new rear springs also fitted at this time. Denis Welch racing pedals make heel and toe-ing a breeze and are well paired with the Works team overdrive gear lever, injecting a bit of sporting potential.

On the inside APO remains presentable yet original with a keen focus placed on preservation. The door panels and quarter panels are newly upholstered, but the seats and console remain original. The carpet mats are new and the hood is 2005 and very smart owing to little use. A Motorola 727 period radio is smartly nestled in the dash but as it is obsolete in frequency has been disconnected for safety.

Sold fully serviced with MOT, British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, large history file, restoration and mechanical overhaul documentation, MOTs back to 1998 and HPI clear.
