DETAILS
Here we have a fantastic, usable Healey fully restored and upgraded with a new chassis and ready to enjoy. Finished in British Racing Green with Black interior this 3000 MkIII is a popular Phase II model built on 27thApril – 8th May 1964. The car was well specified from new with a overdrive gearbox, wire wheels, a heater, adjustable steering column and laminated windscreen.
Restoration was completed in October 1991 by a Healey specialist and was a total nut and bolt full rebuild to all mechanicals inclusive of engine and gearbox plus differential, the body was restored from bare metal, a new Jule chassis was installed whilst retaining the original repaired bulkheads and inside the car was fully retrimmed including a new hood to the exterior. 16,500 miles have been covered since the date of restoration.
Fitment of a new chassis was unusual in the 1990s but is now accepted by Healey specialists like ourselves as the only way to guarantee both a superior driving car but also to extend the lifespan of the car long beyond that of the original unit. As such this Healey DFH 130B is wonderful to drive. The immense strength of the structure makes the car ride better as there is no flex or interior rattles and the car handles much tighter as the suspension can work more efficiently without body flex as you would find on a weak or previously rusted and repaired chassis.
Since restoration the car has had a reasonable amount of servicing and in the last two years regular services have been carried out with much work to improve the car. In 2024 the rear brakes were overhauled, a service was carried out, the fuel pump was replaced as was the battery and the dynamo was restored. In May 2025 we fitted a new radiator core, a new master cylinder, new Blockley tyres, one new shock absorber plus a water pump and flush to the cooling system/ engine block.
The car will be sold with a new MOT and includes a paperwork history file, British Motor Heritage Certificate copy, spare keys and tonneau cover in excellent condition.
