Here we have for sale an Austin Healey holy-grail find. A very original car fully restored and highly upgraded by Rawles Motorsport with only 3000 miles covered since.
Of the 355 MkII two-seaters – the rarest Healey production model of them all – just 11 were produced RHD with the later, short throw centre change gearbox. These 11 examples featured the most powerful drivetrain Healey ever put in a 2-seat car and 5 of these were modified by Donald Healey Motor Co for racing. Just 6 were delivered to customers in this specification. OO 5620 is one of those 6 cars.
Purchased by the owner from us three years ago OO was a very light restoration for us as the car was in otherwise good rust-free condition but with an older 80s lower quality paint job and interior. Due to the cars provenance it was chosen to be treated to our highest level of restoration, which amounted to 1,150 hours across paint, body, mechanical and trim.
Engine:
Rawles Motorsport Fast Road with triple 2” SUs. Of the 11 total 3000 MkII RHD centre change cars 6 were customer cars like OO 5620 and a further 5 were racers. The racers had 2” SUs and OO now has this setup as homage. The engine is fully balanced with upgraded camshaft, harmonic crank balancer, aluminium backplate, 6 branch manifold, stainless side exhaust, 123 mappable ignition timing, large core radiator, uprated mechanical fan, electric additional fan, lead free conversion, dynator alternator, porosity kit, upgraded oil seals and more.
Gearbox:
Original serial numbered centre change gearbox fully rebuilt to original specification. Original overdrive rebuilt to original specification.
Brakes & Suspension:
Original chassis and bulkheads restored (in very good original condition), Rawles Motorsport Bilstein damper package, 4-Piston Girling branded front disc brakes, Denis Welch upgraded steering box. 60 spoke wire wheels in Aluminium Silver with Michelin XAS 180 tyres.
Interior:
Rawles Motorsport bespoke trimmed full leather seats with leather piping in Shadow Blue, custom seat foams to provide a lowered and more reclined driving position (more modern & comfortable), full leather armrest, bound carpet in Shadow Blue, carpeted spare wheel cover, colour coded seatbelts, full cockpit thermal insulation and sound deadening, LED instrumentation lights, wood steering wheel, USB power point.
Mohair Navy tonneau. Original everflex roof, Blue.
