Despatched from the Austin Abingdon factory on 13th January 1967 this MKIII Phase II example is among the very last cars built. As such this Healey features all final production refinements including the later chassis with improved ground clearance and rear axle control, the 29K series 150BHP engine, ‘pram style’ hood and De-Luxe interior.
Finished in its original colour of British Racing Green the paintwork on this car does have some flaws, notably fine scratches to the bonnet but is largely very presentable with a healthy shine. Panel fitment across the car is good with many of the panels appearing original. The car features a new chrome bumpers with the remainder of brightwork very good too with Aluminium Silver wire wheels which appear to be almost new.
Inside the car impressively retains much of its original interior in good condition although the rear seat back is missing (easily replaced). The Ambla Vinyl seats still feel supportive and are fully intact with the original ‘Chrome’ piping and embossed patterning present. The carpet has more recently been replaced and is in good condition.
To drive the car is spot on displaying strong oil pressure, maintaining good running temperature and delivering very good performance. This Healey rides and handles well with the steering nice and tight with the brakes having just had a major overhaul.
Overall, this is a good usable big Healey in nice shape for an extremely competitive price, suitable either for spirited usage as is or an ideal candidate to fix up for the investor.
