Austin Healey 3000 MkII Tri-Carb, Rawles Motorsport Restored with Factory Hardtop

Fantastically menacing in Aston Martin Green with an ultra-rare matching factory hardtop plus colour coded wheels, this 1962 Healey 3000 MkII has been fully restored to the highest standards in 2016 by Rawles Motorsport industry leaders in Austin Healey restoration. This example, 536 UYL represents an incredible opportunity to own an immaculate, low mileage specialist-built car at a fraction of what the build cost would be today. If you wish to take delivery of the car RHD we can complete the conversion in one week. The case study for this restoration can be found here.

To create this powerful aesthetic, we started with the customer’s exceedingly original and solid barn find, a rare 1962 triple carburettor Healey with the coveted centre change gearbox – of which just a few thousand were built.

This is a structurally superb car, having been restored from an incredibly well-preserved barn find that exceeded the condition we find most cars in, with the original chassis strengthened further still during the restoration process to result in an enhanced driving experience. This MkII Healey features all original body panels restored, repaired and with body fit greatly improved over the factory resulting in a superb car with precise gaps all-round.

During restoration we rebuilt the original numbers engine of this 3000 to our modernised fast-road specification, whilst retaining the original and rare 1 ½ inch triple SUs and manifold setup featured only on MkII cars such as this. These internal upgrades result in a 30% increase in power and very flat torque curve made available across a far greater spectrum of the rev-range than factory. In addition to this the car features oil seal, cooling and reliability improvements. The original overdrive gearbox was fully refurbished.

The interior and wet-weather gear of 536 UYL were both hand crafted by our in-house trimmer in more luxurious materials (Black mohair for the roof, Red leather for the seats), with additional thermal insulation keeping summer cockpit temperatures cool and warm in winter (with the hardtop being particularly fantastic for the cooler months as well as grand touring with significantly less wind noise).

Supplied serviced with MOT, large paperwork history file including restoration documentation (photos, invoices and coffee table book), British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, factory hardtop, mohair roof, side screens, jack and hammer plus colour coded spare wheel. Available RHD at additional cost.
